The funny thing is that I spotted this at the mall literally like
the day after I published my other Polène bag-at-a-glance post.
This one is the Numero Un bag, another style which I see featured
heavily in their online ads and sponsored posts.
First impression? CLUNKY and not as refined as I expected it to be.
The color, which could be the monochrome gray, is somewhat off
in the way that some handbag colors that end up in the outlets are
off, and the size is actually pretty huge, especially on this petite woman.
Listed at 470$ on their site, which isn’t too bad. Their pricing is generally
quite accessible, but as I’ve mentioned bef
It looks stiff and structured, which is good that it’s able to maintain
those pleats where they are, BUT the pleated parts also seem to be
where the dust/dirt gather because it looked a little unkempt and just
not as refined as it could be.
Listed at 470$ on their site, which isn’t too bad. Their pricing is generally quite accessible,
but I’ve mentioned some of my apprehension about this in my other post as well.
I’m still quite suspicious about their whole operation because they’re marketing themselves
as being indie and handcrafted and artisanal etc, like they’re some cute little
brand whose tiny shop you may just stumble upon in Paris one day, but look at how
much they’ve spent on marketing and sponsored posts from influencers.
Big brands spend so much money on marketing and ads, and skimp on product quality.
If a brand has that much money for marketing and expansion, AND it’s priced so affordably,
AND they’re saying they’re a “luxury” brand…well all those things can’t exist at the same time,
it’s contradictory. It’s like that venn diagram when explaining pricing to clients: CHEAP, FAST, GOOD.
If you want it cheap and fast, it won’t be good. If you want it cheap and good, it won’t be fast.
If you want it fast and good, it won’t be cheap. It can’t be all three.
Anyway, I’ve so far only seen them from afar so I’d still be really interested in doing a deeper
dive once I actually am able to get my hands on them for a proper review
